What kind of aftercare should I do for my Tattoo?
If you have any questions about your tattoo or the healing process, please call or e-mail.
- Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo!
- When you get home: Remove bandage within 1-4 hours after getting your tattoo. Do not re-bandage.
- Wash your tattoo with an anti-bacterial liquid soap. Be gentle, do not use a washcloth or anything that will exfoliate your tattoo. Only use your hands.
- Gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. Do not rub, or use a fabric with a rough surface.
- The first 2 days: Wash morning and night, dry tattoo and rub a small amount of Aquaphor on your tattoo. Always use clean hands and do not place your fingers back into the ointment after touching your tattoo. Make sure to rub the ointment in so that it is not shiny, or greasy– you want the thinnest amount possible. Pat off any excess ointment with a clean cloth or paper towel. Do not use Vaseline, petroleum or Bag Balm.
- On the first night, you may want to wrap your tattoo in saran wrap to prevent sticking to your bedding. Do not use any cloth bandages or pads, as the fibers of this material can adhere to your open tattoo and hinder the healing process.
- Wear clean, soft clothing over your tattoo for the first 2 weeks– nothing abrasive or irritating. For a foot tattoo: go barefoot as much as possible. If you must wear shoes, first wrap your clean tattoo in saran wrap, then cover with a clean cotton sock before putting on your shoe. Avoid sandals or flip flops for this period to prevent chafing and damage to the tattoo.
- After day 2: Begin using a mild, white, unscented lotion, free of dyes or Perfumes. Be sure to continue washing the tattoo morning and night.
- On the 3rd or 4th day your tattoo will begin to peel. This is normal! Do not pick at the skin. .
- Use lotion for minimum 2 weeks, 3-5 times daily.
- Do not pick, scratch, peel, slap, rub or irritate your tattoo.
- You can shower, but you may not soak your tattoo for 2 weeks. No swimming, soaking or hot tub.
- You may not expose your tattoo to the sun for at least 2 weeks, after that you must use sun block.
- Do not wear abrasive materials, jewelry, or shoes that rub against your tattoo.
- Do not let anyone touch your tattoo, unless they wash their hands.
- Beware of gym equipment, wash it well before using it.
- Beware of deodorant and hair products. Do not let them come into contact with tattoo.
- Ice your tattoo to reduce swelling.
- Elevate your tattoo, to reduce swelling.
- Take short showers.

Does it hurt?
Yes it hurts. But, there are lots of people walking around with tattoos so it’s not unbearable. There are many sensations used to describe it depending on each person and what area is being worked on. Some people even like it!
Is it safe to get a tattoo?
Yes, completely safe for most people Tattoos are safe, as long as each artist and the entire studio strictly adheres to Universal precautions and Blood Borne Pathogen Safety. You can be assured that Vicious Vanity Ink requires each artist to hold client safety as the first and foremost priority. We have the highest level of sterilization possible and go above and beyond all local health codes and laws. We do have a consent/waiver form which identifies certain instances when it would not be appropriate for an individual to receive tattoo or piercing, but these are rare instances.
Can I bring my own picture or drawing for my tattoo?
Yes. This tattoo will be on you permanently so we want to be sure you are totally happy. Bring anything you think might help to capture exactly what you’re looking for your tattoo to reflect. No matter whether you know exactly what you want or don’t have a clue, we will always work with you to design a custom piece of art that you will love.
How much will it cost?
That depends on the size of the piece and the detail involved. Some pieces cannot be completed in one sitting. You will be given a quote once you meet with the artist and go over the details of what you want. Remember though, if another studio is willing do your tattoo super cheap BEWARE! Sometimes you get what you pay for and this is going to be on you forever. If you do go for the super cheap shop see question on fixing a bad tattoo!
Are there any special requirements to get tattooed?
You must be 18 years or older for a tattoo due to local health rules and regulations. The age to tattoo in our Plant City location is 16 with parental consent, but not all our artists will tattoo minors. We are strict in our requirements to ensure proper age and that valid legal parental consent is presented, so please call the studio at (813) 652-8080 ahead of time to find out exactly what you will need to bring to your appointment. For any tattoo or piercing, you must present a valid drivers license or current state photo ID which by law must be photocopied. You (and your parent/ guardian if your a minor) must also read and sign a waiver/ consent form.
I have a tattoo that's really bad, can it be fixed?
Our artists can usually cover up or fix most tattoos-even really bad ones so you would never even know they were there. We are always honest though. If we don’t think it can be successfully covered we will let you know and work with you on what options you do have so you will ultimately be happy. We never do a tattoo just to make a buck. This is a really good group of artists who take tremendous pride in their work and art. Be assured that the artwork on your body and how you feel about it is a reflection on them – meaning your satisfaction is VERY important!
